How it's Made
care and respect.
At Opals & Ashes, all designs start with a piece of paper and a pencil. The designs are then created on the computer using state of the art software.
This allows us the flexibility to develop new ideas without having to make the physical designs. This is perfect for when we are asked to design bespoke jewellery. Pieces can be viewed, approved, or easily changed before being made.
These models are then printed in wax and sent to our casting house where they go through the process of lost wax casting.
These hollow moulds are filled with precious metals and are ready for the next stages.
In our Manchester workshop we hand finish each piece, then carefully blend the ashes with your choice of coloured opals and resin.
The final and most rewarding stage is giving the jewellery a deep polish.
The creation is now complete.
